Espargaro Continues Dominance – Sachsenring FP2

Aleix Espargaro continued where he’d left off in FP1 for Sunday’s MotoGP at the Sachsenring in Germany by setting the fastest time in a rain-affected second free practice session.

The NGM Mobile Forward rider beat compatriot and world champion Marc Marquez into 2nd place, ahead of Jorge Lorenzo who maintained the impressive pace he exhibited this morning. Dani Pedrosa – who recently re-signed for Repsol Honda – and Valentino Rossi were some way off their team-mates and languished in 9th and 10th.

A rain shower swept the track with just over 20 minutes left on the clock, but it didn’t catch any riders out unlike the unusually-cool conditions earlier that saw several go down in FP1; including Bradley Smith, who ended the day 11th. However, PBM’s Michael Laverty did suffer an accident at turn 12 that saw him emerge without injury, and it didn’t stop him ending the day in an impressive 14th position.
