Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg has extended his contract with the team for an extra season, taking the German to the end of 2015 after his current contract expires at the close of 2014.
Rosberg signed for the team when it was still Brawn GP at the close of 2009, but by March 2010 it was already rebranded as Mercedes and the German has remained with them ever since, partnering Michael Schumacher before being joined by current team-mate Lewis Hamilton at the start of 2013. Rosberg won Mercedes’ first race of the modern era when he triumphed in the 2012 Chinese Grand Prix, before picking up two further victories in 2013 at Monaco and Silverstone respectively.
He won this season’s Australian Grand Prix but has struggled to match Hamilton since, finishing 2nd to the Briton in the last four races. He currently sits three points behind the Briton in the championship tables.
