Dani Pedrosa bested key rivals Jorge Lorenzo and Marc Marquez during third practice for tomorrow’s Jerez MotoGP race, demonstrating his acknowledged skills at the Spanish track to good effect.
The session was defined by the incredibly tight battle for supremacy at the top; at one point only 0.1 seconds seperated the top ten riders, though the margin was eked out by the faster championship contenders as the morning wore on. It remained close for the top three of Jorge Lorenzo, Marc Marquez and Pedrosa however, with only an improved final sector lending the advantage to Lorenzo until the dying minutes when Pedrosa unleashed his inner Jerez specialist and improved by almost 0.3 seconds to edge out his rivals.
It was another strong hour for NGM Mobile Forward Yamaha who saw Aleix Espargaro consistently challenege the frontrunners while Colin Edwards finished a superb 5th with a stunning final lap, just behind Valentino Rossi.
Cal Crutchlow showed improved pace on his second day of running for Ducati, though remains noticeably off the pace of team-mate Andrea Dovizioso.
