Kvyat becomes youngest ever F1 points-scorer

Aus GP 10

Toro Rosso debutant Daniil Kvyat became the youngest driver ever to score points in a Formula One race by finishing 10th in the season-opening Australian Grand Prix.

The Russian weathered a high attrition rate and battles with World Champions Fernando Alonso, Jenson Button and Kimi Raikkonen to score a single point and break the previous record of 19 years, 349 days held by Sebastian Vettel since he scored a point for 8th place at the 2007 United States Grand Prix. Kvyat’s record comes at the benchmark of 19 years, 324 days.

The 9th place of team-mate Jean Eric Vergne along with Kvyat’s 10th was a welcome boost for the Toro Rosso team who had experienced a dire pre-season testing period.
