No New Jersey, Korea or Mexico in 2014

A revised FIA 2014 Formula One season calendar was released on Wednesday, failing to feature the New Jersey and Mexican Grand Prix’s that had been scheduled after funding and planning problems had dictated neither venue would be ready in time.

The ill-fated Korean Grand Prix, first held in 2010, has also been dropped from the calendar after the local government in Mokpo could not secure enough funds for the sanctioning fee.

This leaves the 2014 calendar with nineteen races, including a new race at Sochi in Russia and the resurrection of the Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring – formerly the A1 ring – an event last held in 2003. The Indian Grand Prix is taking a sabbatical in order to prepare for an early-season slot in 2015 and will also not feature in the 2014 season.
