It’s Vettel again – Belgian FP3

Sebastian Vettel cemented his bid for pole position in this afternoon’s qualifying session for the Belgian Grand Prix as he set fastest time in the final free practice session from Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso.

In the opening half hour there were impressive showings from the Toro Rosso duo of Jean Eric Vergne and Daniel Ricciardo, with the Frenchman heading the timing screens for a period, while Williams’ Valtteri Bottas also made his mark with a fast time early on that secured his place in the top 5 for much of the morning.

Vergne refused to be put down even when the drivers switched to the faster, medium compound Pirelli tyres in the dying minutes of the session, with his qualifying run netting him 4th place in the final standings.

Qualifying is at 2pm local time.
