Pirelli have cancelled plans to introduce their new tyre at next weekend’s Canadian Grand Prix.
The announcement comes only days after the Italian tyre manufacturer came under fire for its role in the Mercedes Barcelona testing scandal.
The new tyre will instead make its track debut in June’s British Grand Prix.
After tyre delamination incidents for Paul Di Resta and Lewis Hamilton in Bahrain and Spain, Pirelli faced overwhelming pressure to re-design the 2013 tyres that were proving difficult for many teams to get a handle on.
However, tyre wear in Monaco proved not to be a huge problem and Pirelli have claimed the new tyre does not offer significant differences in wear and performance levels, a factor that has been instrumental in most of the races in the 2013 season and has led to criticism from some fans.
