Kimi Raikkonen chased down World Champion Sebastian Vettel in 2nd by continuing the solid speed exhibited by Lotus, although gearbox maladies kept him in his garage most of the morning. Lewis Hamilton was solid but unspectacular in 4th, his fastest time on the hard Pirelli compound placing him ahead of arch-nemesis Fernando Alonso who had been the centre of attention this morning after a rumour there was doubt over the F138’s surfaced in the Ferrari motorhome.

Valtteri Bottas was midway down the order, ahead of Daniel Ricciardo, Paul Di Resta, Nico Hulkenberg, Max Chilton and Charles Pic.
